Deutschen Pfest music lineup
We all know that Deutschen Pfest and live music go hand in hand. This year’s lineup features great headliners, so plan your weekend for May 19-21 and be there to hear your favorite music. From local community dance teams, school performers, German music to country, the lineup features something for the whole family. On Friday, enjoy Marcus Baggio, followed by the American Gypsies and headliner Shelley King.
Shelly King is a musical Ambassador of the Austin, Texas Sound. Her blend of original blues, rock, folk, country, soul and gospel led her to be the first woman appointed by the Texas Legislature to represent the state as its Official Texas State Artist. She has won Austin Music Awards for Song of The Year and Best Roots Rock Band. Her songs have been recorded by numerous national and international artists and appeared in feature films.
On Saturday, music kicks off with Oma and the Oompahs, and afternoon acts include Yodel Blitz, Chris Rybak, Pflame, Diana Naranjo and David Touchton. The lineup concludes with headliner Gary P. Nunn who established himself as an icon of Lone Star Music and was inducted in the Texas Hall of Fame. He has been honored by Governor Rick Perry as “The Music Ambassador of Texas”. Nunn’s achievements include awards with several gold and platinum records for writing, publishing and performing. Nunn is an independent music pioneer who continues to oversee his own record label and performs almost every weekend at top music venues throughout Texas and beyond.
On Sunday, enjoy Markus Baggio followed by the Walburg Boys, a five-member band are known for their German, country, R&B, reggae, rock, and polka. Ronney Tippelt plays the accordion, sings and is considered one of the best yodelers in the United States. Rusty Swanson, at the fiddle, is a classically trained veteran of the Texas music scene. Scott Fischer, bass and sound mixer, found his calling in German wide variety music. Steve Q, has been practicing the drums since the age of 12. Reese Liles, the lead guitarist, grew up on classic rock and now Bavarian polka.
