Deutschen Pfest is May 18-20 with a weekend full of fun
The weekend begins on Friday night at Pfluger Park with carnival rides, vendors, food trucks and live music. From local community dance teams, school performers, German music to country, the music lineup features something for the whole family.
On Friday, enjoy undisKovered followed by the People’s Choice Band. UndisKovered covers a wide genre of music from the 60’s and 70’s to today’s top hits, as well as classic rock, R&B, latin and country. The People’s Choice Band, from Austin, has been entertaining audiences around Texas for decades playing a variety of country, swing, pop, rock and more.
On Saturday, the event begins in the morning with a parade southbound on Railroad Avenue into downtown Main Street at 10:45 a.m. with a children’ parade down Main Street. After the parade, come to Pfluger Park as the carnival and festivities begin. Enjoy German music from Oma and the Oompahs, and afternoon acts include Tomzap Band, Yodel Blitz, Austin Polka Band, Keine Kunst, Pflame and Lisa Marshall. The lineup concludes with The Spazmatics, who put on a unique, high-energy show featuring music favorites from the 1980’s. The festival concludes at midnight.
Children can enjoy the children’s area with a petting farm, kiddie train, inflatables and puppet shows at the east gate of Deutschen Pfest at Gilleland Creek. No admission is required to participate in the children’s area. At the petting farm children can feed animals of various types. The kiddie train is onsite giving rides around the park. Take off your shoes and jump on the inflatables. The children’s area is open from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
On Sunday, the day begins with an 8 a.m. 5K Pfun Run and Kids K. New for 2018 the course meanders down the Gilleland Creek Trails. After the run, come out to the park to enjoy The Detentions followed by Ninety Degree Turn. The pfestival concludes with The Eggmen, a Beatles tribute band.
Admission information: Festival admission is $5 on Friday and Sunday and $7 on Saturday. Enjoy weekend admission with the purchase of a Deutschen Pfest T-shirt for $12 adults, $10 children. Proceeds support Pflugerville park projects.
Carnival: Starting Friday evening, the carnival opens at Pfluger Park with rides specifically selected for children of all ages to enjoy. A weekend wristband is $20 for unlimited rides.
Parking: A reminder that parking isn’t available at Pfluger Park for Deutschen Pfest. Guests are encouraged to enjoy free parking and free shuttles available from Pflugerville High School Football Field Parking Lot (1301 W. Pecan St.) all three days.
