All of the Pfacts of Deutschen Pfest
The 44th annual pfest begins on Friday night at Pfluger Park with carnival rides, vendors, food trucks and live music. From local community dance teams, school performers, German music to country, the music lineup features something for the whole family.
On Friday, enjoy Jesse Stratton followed by Skyrocket! Jesse’s band plays a variety of Texas Country and Americana music that creates all the heart and soul live music lives for. Skyrocket! is a popular cover band that resurrects music from all decades, but came together for their love of music from the 1970s. Whatever the play, it’s guaranteed to be a party.
On Saturday, the event begins in the morning with the children’s parade at 10 a.m. starting at the corner of 3rd Street and Main Street ending by City Hall. Then at 10:45 a.m. is the main parade going southbound on Railroad Avenue into downtown Main Street. (The parade route has changed this year and will turn on Wilbarger Street, then make the loop around to Main Street, head east on Main Street and then north back up Railroad Avenue and end by Brookhollow Elementary.) After the parade, come to Pfluger Park as the carnival and festivities begin. Enjoy German music from Oma and the Oompahs, and afternoon acts include Ninety Degree Turn, Timmerman Elementary School Honor Choir, Pflame, Yodel Blitz, Hot Pickin’ 57s and the Keine Kunst Folk Dance Troupe. The evening begins with American Gypsy, a southern fusion band from Austin that plays rock, country and Americana. Then headlining the stage at 9:30 p.m. is Newsboyz, a versatile and energetic band who pplay a variety of music. The festival concludes at midnight.
Children can enjoy the children’s area at the east gate of Deutschen Pfest at Gilleland Creek. No admission is required to participate in the children’s area. The children’s area is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
On Sunday, the day begins with an 8 a.m. 5K Pfun Run and Kids K. After the run, come out to the park to enjoy Austin rockers Brett and Brian followed by the Tomzap Band. The pfestival concludes with The Eggmen, a Beatles tribute band.
Admission information: Festival admission is $5 on Friday and Sunday and $7 on Saturday. Enjoy weekend admission with the purchase of a Deutschen Pfest T-shirt for $12 adults, $10 children.
Carnival: Starting Friday evening, the carnival opens at Pfluger Park with rides specifically selected for children of all ages to enjoy. A wristband is $20 for unlimited rides for a day.
Parking: A reminder that parking isn’t available at Pfluger Park for Deutschen Pfest. Guests are encouraged to enjoy free parking and free shuttles available from Pflugerville High School Football Field Parking Lot (1301 W. Pecan St.) all three days.
